CDMX, (Notifax).- El Presidente Enrique Peña Nieto y el ex Secretario de Estado de los Estados Unidos de América, John Kerry, sostuvieron una llamada telefónica en la que intercambiaron puntos de vista en torno a temas de diversidad biológica, particularmente sobre la protección a la vida marina.
El ex Secretario Kerry reconoció el cumplimiento de México con las Metas de Aichi, en específico la de protección en superficie marina (10%) superándola en más del doble, al establecer 70 millones de hectáreas de zonas protegidas en áreas marinas (casi 23%), así como zonas de refugio pesquero.
En la conversación, el Primer Mandatario reafirmó el compromiso del gobierno mexicano con la biodiversidad. Aseguró que, con la declaratoria de Parque Nacional, Revillagigedo será la zona protegida más grande de América y se convertirá en incubadora y santuario para las especies marinas.
